Epithalon – What Is It, Benefits and More

3 min read

What is Epithalon?

Epithalon, also known as Epitalon or Epithalamin, is a short synthetic peptide which helps in the activation of telomerase enzyme and stimulation of melatonin release. The development of Epithalon took place in the 1980s in Russia. Now, it has emerged to show its effectiveness in delaying age-related transformations in the immune systems and reproductive systems of mice and rats. In other words, it helps in increasing the life span of these creatures. Apart from its use in anti-aging studies, epithalon is proving to be of considerable significance in various types of cancers, regulation of DNA, and prevention of infectious diseases.

Anti-aging effects of Epithalon

Epithalon is found to decrease the mortality of healthy fruit flies and rats by 52%. It has the capability of prolonging life by about 27% in mice having heart diseases or cancer. These benefits of epithalon are the result of its effectiveness in eliminating free radicals. Besides its anti-oxidant activity, epithalon activates telomerase, an enzyme on somatic cells of humans. Telomerase plays a crucial role in protecting the chromosomal ends, referred to as telomeras, which help in preserving the health of DNA. Hence, epithalon protects DNA, which further helps in preventing cell dysfunction and aging.

Impact of Epithalon on skin health and tumor growth

The protein contained in the connective tissue or the skin is referred to as MMP2. Studies have shown that there is a positive impact of epithalon on the gene, which is responsible for regulating MMP2. Research on rodents suggest that epithalon is not only effective in activating the gene but it also helps in the activation of fibroblasts, which further increases the healing effect of skin and prevents its natural decline.

When epithalon is administered to rats suffering from cancer, it is not only found to be effective in reducing the growth of tumor but it also helps in the prevention of metastasis, that is, spreading of tumors to distant tissues. At present, Epithalon is under investigation for early detection and treatment of breast cancers. It is also found to gain increasing attention for the prevention of various types of leukemia and testicular cancer.

Association of Epithalon with Melatonin secretion

The pineal gland is responsible for the production of melatonin, which is associated with sleep and aging. Epithalon is found to influence the synthesis of melatonin as well as its release in rodents. In monkeys, it is found to help in the restoration of melatonin secretion to normal.

Is Epithalon capable of improving eyesight?

Research on rats with retinitis pigmentosa shows that epithalon helps in preserving the normal eye structure, thus improving the eyesight in 90% of the patients. It acts as a booster for the bioelectric feature of the retina, which helps in improving the vision.

Epithalon Peptide, like Epithalon Peptide 25mg, possesses minimal side effects and remarkable subcutaneous bioavailability in rats. It can be purchased online and is limited to research use only. It is not usable for consumption by humans and thus, one can buy Epithalon only if he or she is a licensed researcher.
